Challenge

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, one of the nation’s largest transit agencies, needed metro.net to work for riders on phones and a new way to explore its stations and the public art inside them.

Solution

Tapiki led the multi-phase migration of metro.net to adaptive templates, rebuilt the global navigation, moved site search to Google, and added coast-to-coast failover and autoscaling. For the Metro Station Guide, Tapiki led requirements, design, and development of a web application for iPad, iPhone, and touchscreen kiosks in Metro stations, with Zehner Group and Slickage Studios.

The Station Guide and its Information Tower kiosks launched at Union Station’s 75th anniversary celebration in May 2014. The redesigned metro.net served millions of riders.
