An iPhone app measures cartridge fill levels from the camera, with no new hardware.

Challenge

Medical device cartridges needed a reliable, non-invasive way to report fill percentage without adding sensors or hardware, using only the device’s existing camera.

Solution

Tapiki built an iOS application that analyzes live camera frames with Core ML and edge detection, finds the cartridge boundary, and calculates fill percentage in real time. The model runs entirely on the device, so no patient data leaves it.

Clinicians get fill-level data from a device that previously offered none, with no change to the physical hardware.
